- Jesse doens't belong to that world

- Raju is the first that Jesse meets on his journey and has a brother (perhaps he has more siblings: perhaps as many natives they are a large family) who makes some kind of joke

- Gita, the second Jesse meets (along with Raju) is snooty and know-it initially as she has read a lot and eventually befriends the other two.

 

An old man: Lama Norbu, a master, an authority, a guide, a repository of knowledge and guardian of secrets and traditions

 

 

 

Harry Potter

 

3 kids:

- Harry doesn't belong to that world

- Ron is the first that Harryt meets on his journey by train and has two brothers (he has more siblings: the Winsleys are one large family) who make some jokes

- Gita, the second Harry meets (along with Ron) is snooty and know-it initially as she has read a lot and eventually befriends the other two.

 

An old man: Dumbledore, a master, an authority, a guide, a repository of knowledge and guardian of secrets and traditions
